The weekend was spent with the extended Lawlor family. And I realized just how much we really all love each other and lean on each other through the really tough times. Being together this weekend really made us all smile through the fears and uncertainty of the months ahead.

Kent's brother and family live in England. Kent's sister and her family live in Southern Maryland. And then there's the Florida Lawlors with our burning desire to remain in shorts 358 days a year and send photos of ourselves lounging on the beach in January to our relatives in the northeast just to be an asshole.
Kent and I are lucky to live so close to his parents... about a 45 minute drive, so we see them often. They are there for us at the drop of a hat and we get to spend weekends at their "resort" when we need to escape Fort Lauderdale reality and trade it in for a little Palm Beach goodness.
Today is the day we find out the extent of my Father In Laws cancer. The PET scan results will be in and a course of action and official stage / prognosis will be determined. I can't say that I'm not nervous. A pessimist by nature, I am always preparing for the worst, while remaining hopeful for the best.
Ger is like my own dad. For the past 10 years, he has filled shoes that have been left open since I was 4. He is a remarkable man filled with far too much FoxNews and bleeds Republican out the ear. But my God, he's great. He's so in love with his grandkids and would do anything just to make Smith smile.
Here's to hope that we've got a long, long time with Ger. A long time to convince him that George Dubbyah isn't the messiah and that FoxNews causes cancer. Kidding. Kinda.
