Kids
Clothes: New Year, New Wardrobe
The new year is a great time to refresh the
kid’s wardrobes, but stay focused! Most of us are still feeling the strain from
the Christmas splurge, so stick to what you need to buy, choose flexible items
for maximum wear, and head to low cost retailers like George at ASDA, where
quality kid’s clothes don’t the earth.
Although shopping with the kids in tow may
sound like your idea of hell, it might be a good idea to take them along on
this particular trip to ensure that the sizing is right and that you’re buying
items that they’ll love to wear. This is another big plus point of doing your kid’s clothes
shopping in the supermarket, as there’s only one shop to brave and you can pick
up outfits with the weekly shop!
Alternatively, head to ASDA.com and do your
kid’s clothes shopping online, with the peace of mind of easy returns should
any items be unsuitable.
So, what should be on your ‘new year, new
wardrobe’ shopping list for the kids?
Basics
The time for fancy party clothes and ‘best’
outfits has past – it’s time to get back to basics with simple layers. Tees,
hoodies, cardigans, jeans and leggings in co-ordinating colours are great for
mixing and matching for easy to throw on outfits.
Playing
Out Clothes
Kids are likely to want to get out and
about on their new bikes, scooters, skates etc, so tough, comfy clothes that
will wash and wash are the order of the day. Jeans are always a durable choice,
and thick hoodies and jumpers paired with bodywarmers will keep out the chill.
When it comes to footwear, there’s no point
spending a fortune for playing out shoes. Do, however, make sure that anything
chosen has adequate grip and support for running around in i.e. persuade them
to leave the sparkly ballerina shoes for next time!
Wet
Weather Wear
Forget April Showers - It’s usually more a
case of January, February, March, April and May showers in the UK! There’s
nothing worse than being damp, cold and miserable, so make sure that your kids
have some reliable wet weather wear to keep them dry and warm when the rain is
lashing down.
From the bottom up, a sturdy pair of
wellies is a must. You’ll find a great selection at George at ASDA, including
character wellies like Cars, Spiderman, The Avengers and Hello Kitty. Don’t
forget a pair of thick welly socks to keep toes toasty and ankles comfy.
A good raincoat is also essential – or, if
you have tiny tots, all in one waterproofs look cute and will keep them totally
dry.
Back
to School
January is the perfect time to check
whether the school uniform drawer needs refreshing. We all know that those
school jumpers and PE kits can go walkabout but the good news is that they
don’t have to be expensive to replace. Basic sweatshirts cost from just £2 at
ASDA, with value trousers, shirts, PE kits, swimming shorts, shoes and more all
also available.
Kitting the kids out needn’t add to your
new year bank balance woes. Stock up on quality basics to see them through to
summer in style.
